Om Shanti Om is a 2007 Bollywood romantic-reincarnation film directed and choreographed by Farah Khan. It stars Shahrukh Khan and Hindi debutant Deepika Padukone in the lead roles while Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade, and Kirron Kher feature in supporting roles. In the 1970s, Om, an aspiring actor, is murdered, but is immediately reincarnated into the present day. He attempts to discover the mystery of his demise and find Shanti, the love of his previous life. More than forty-two well-known Bollywood stars appear in the course of the film, including thirty of them (not including the stars of the film) in one song alone. The film is set in the 1970s and 2000s; it pays tribute to, and pokes fun at, the Indian film industry of both these eras.
The film was released in 2,000 prints worldwide making it the largest Indian cinematic release at the time. Om Shanti Om was released on 9 November 2007 to mostly positive reviews from critics and record-breaking box office collections. It grossed INR1.49 billion (US$25 million) worldwide and thus became the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time at the time of its release. Another notable fact is Deepika Padukone's voice has been dubbed by sound artiste Mona Ghosh Shetty for this film.

Om Prakash Makhija (Shah Rukh Khan) is a junior artist in the 1970s Bollywood film industry, in love with film star Shanti Priya (Deepika Padukone). One evening, Om views the premiere of Shanti's film Dreamy Girl, posing as Manoj Kumar. Later that night, Om becomes drunk and describes his vision of himself as a famous, wealthy film star to his friend Pappu (Shreyas Talpade) and some local children. At the shooting of a later film, Om rescues Shanti from a fire scene where of the fire has escaped control, and they become friends. One day, after following Shanti, he overhears her and producer Mukesh Mehra's (Arjun Rampal) conversation , that Mukesh and Shanti have married in secret and Shanti is pregnant and expects a traditional wedding. Mukesh pretends to be happy with the news, and invites Shanti at the set of their soon-to-be-made film Om Shanti Om. Mukesh promises to cancel the film, reveal their marriage to the public, and have a grand wedding on the set; but instead traps Shanti on the set and sets it on fire to prevent his financial loss and downfall of his career.

Om, who happens to be at the same location that night, attempts to rescue Shanti, but is attacked by Mukesh's guards, and later thrown from the building by an explosion. Outside, Om is hit by a car owned by Rajesh Kapoor (Javed Sheikh), a well-known actor taking his wife Lovely to the hospital to give birth. At the hospital Om succumbs to his injuries, while Lovely gives birth to a son, also named Om, who in adulthood becomes a popular movie star and a lookalike of Om, nicknamed 'O.K.', and lives the luxurious life imagined by Om Prakash, but experiences pyrophobia and subconsciously inherits Om Prakash's memories. In acceptance of an award, O.K. unexpectedly delivers Om Prakash's drunken speech to the assembly. Pappu hears this on television. At a celebration of his award, O.K. is introduced by his father to Mukesh Mehra, and thereupon completely recovers Om Prakash's memories. He later reunites with Om's mother Bela (Kirron Kher) and Pappu and conspires to avenge Shanti's death by making Mukesh confess his crime. To that end, O.K. convinces Mukesh to restart Om Shanti Om, while scheming to convince Mukesh that Shanti is a ghost haunting himself. To impersonate Shanti, O.K. finds Sandhya, a.k.a. Sandy, a doppelganger of Shanti. Throughout the film's shooting, O.K. and his friends arrange incidents to remind Mukesh of his crime. During the music launch of the film, O.K. taunts Mukesh by revealing, through a song, the extent to which he knows the story of Shanti's death. Seeing Sandy bleed of a scratch, Mukesh confirms that she is not Shanti's ghost. Thereafter O.K. and Mukesh confront each other with their knowledge of each other's actions. During the quarrel, an apparently-genuine ghost of Shanti reveals that Mukesh, after the fire ceased to burn, buried her alive below the set's chandelier. Mukesh attempts to shoot the ghost, shocked by the extent to which she knows about the murder, but Mukesh and O.K. fight, which results in yet another fire; and the chandelier falls on Mukesh, killing him instantly. Pappu and Sandy join O.K. O.K. is shocked that he saw the same person and realizes it is Shanti's ghost. The film ends with Shanti's ghost leaving the scene and disappears in the light.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (Hindi: रब ने बना दी जोड़ी : is a 2008 Indian romantic comedy film directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and movie debutant Anushka Sharma. Khan plays a mild-mannered office worker named Surinder Sahni, whose love for the beautiful and vivacious Taani (Sharma) causes him to transform himself into the loud and fun-loving "Raj" to win her love. It was released worldwide on 12 December 2008 and marked Chopra's return to directing after an eight-year break, following his previous film, Mohabbatein.

The film was not heavily promoted pre-release, contrary to previous Khan or Yash Raj films, mainly because of the filmmakers' decision to keep it low-profile because of the terror attacks in Mumbai. Upon release, the film received positive reviews and broke many box office records. It was declared a blockbuster despite the fact that it was released only two weeks after the 2008 Mumbai attacks, amidst uncertainty and apprehensions from the trade regarding market conditions at the time. At the end of its theatrical run, it grossed over INR1.58 billion (US$27 million) worldwide and was also the highest-grossing film of the year in the overseas market, thus becoming Yash Raj Films and Shahrukh Khan's highest-grossing film at the time of its release. The film's soundtrack was composed by Salim-Sulaiman, and it became the first Bollywood soundtrack to reach the top ten albums sales for the iTunes Store.

The film's script was recognised by a number of critics and was invited to be included in the Margaret Herrick Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, just a day after its release. Shy, introverted and kind-hearted Surinder "Suri" Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan) is an office employee for Punjab Power. He meets the daughter of his former teacher, and professor (M.K. Raina), beautiful and vivacious Taani Gupta (Anushka Sharma), during the preparations for her wedding. A short time later, the shocking news arrives that her fiance and his wedding entourage were killed in a road accident. Taani's father suffers a major heart attack due to the news. Fearing that Taani will be alone in the world, the professor, on his deathbed, requested Surinder to marry her. Surinder silently concedes because he likes her anyway, and Taani agrees for her father's sake.

After an impromptu wedding, Surinder takes Taani to his ancestral home in Amritsar. While his good nature leads Surinder to treat her with exceptional care – he even lets her have his bedroom all to herself – he is too frightened to profess his love for her. Taani later tells him that, she will try to be a good wife and thus respect her role in his life, and that she can never love him due to having no love left within her after the loss of her fiance. Surinder, grateful for the increasing acts of wifely affection that she shows, proceeds to indulge her wishes. These include regular evening trips to the cinema to see Bollywood movies which appeal to Taani's fantasies about romance and her passion for dancing. One day, while walking in the market, Taani saw a poster about a dancing competition, she soon asks for Surinder's permission to take the expensive dance class with a visiting Bombay company, to unwind from her mundane andboring life at home, which he then grants, providing with it, the entry fee.

During the evenings that Surinder and Taani spend at the movies, Surinder realises it is the strong and masculine images that Taani admires, and later on, he asks his long-time best friend, Balwinder "Bobby" Khosla (Vinay Pathak), a hair-salon owner, for grooming advice so as to help him, win her love. Bobby gives him a complete makeover which includes trimming off his mustache (an accidental gag, due to the power cutting off), changing his hairstyle (putting on lots of gel and shaping it to be spiky), and fitting him out in a funky Western-style clothing ,which he feels is very tight, from the front and the back, including aviator-style shades with oversize pastel lenses, . Surinder is thus transformed into "Raj," a name he borrows from the hero of a movie that Taani had admired. After having that makeover change done by "Bobby", Surinder went to Taani's dancing competition venue to see her dance, without her recognising him, but he then gets pulled into the dance recital by an instructor. At the end of that dance class, all of the participants were put into groups of two by random numbers given by the staff, and somehow, both Surinder and Taani had the number '21'. By chance, or, as Surinder puts it that is was not chance but it was by the divine choice of God and so hee becomes Taani's partner in the competition. Despite Raj's initial over-the-top attempts to emulate the "cool" images given by heroes, in movies, after the first attempt of impressing Taani in that way, Taani reacted badly, telling 'Raj' to never flirt with her. He and Taani become friends as they work together on their dance routine. Surinder feels encouraged when Taani does not want to tie a rakhi on Raj's wrist during the festival of Raksha Bandhan (doing so would indicate that she thought of him only as a brother). RAaj then decides to invite her to his birthday, claiming the prize for beating her in an eating competition. He tells Taani of how he always spends his birthday alone. So they go on a day of visiting Punjab's wonderful cultures, thus, after some time, Raj declares his love for her.

Taani is shocked, to say the least, and enters into a period of internal conflict. Surinder also faces a dilemma in Taani's misery. He thus attempts to win Taani's love as Surinder, an act which only alienates her further. She eventually runs away to find Raj to tell him the predicament she is in, hoping he will help her. He offers to elope with her, which she agrees to, tearfully. They set the date for their elopement to the next night, the night of the competition (the finals). Surinder is disappointed that Taani cannot see his love for her as himself, only as 'Raj'. Later that night, Surinder tells Bobby that he will end the charade in his own way, sacrificing his cravings for her love, leaving her his property and transferring himself to Delhi.

On the day of the competition, Surinder takes Taani to the Golden Temple to gain God's blessings for her performance for that night and, internally, also for her life with(out) 'Raj'. While there, Taani has a realisation in which she believes God has shown her a sign that her marriage to Surinder is divinely inspired. For the first time she reflects on her husband and becomes aware of the strength and integrity of Surinder's character, something which she can grow to love. Taani thus tells Raj on the night of the competition, that she cannot choose him over her husband. She leaves him in what appears to be a state of shock with tears in his eyes. When the time comes for their performance, Taani is stunned to see Surinder instead of Raj joining her on stage. While dancing Taani puts two and two together and through a series of flashbacks, she awakens to the fact that Surinder is in fact 'Raj'. Backstage, after their dance, she confronts Surinder, and when he confesses his love for her, she tearfully admits that she reciprocates his feelings. The two, having won the competition, head off on a honeymoon to Japan.

The music was composed by Vishal-Shekhar, who have composed the music for all of Siddharth's past three films. The cinematography is handled by Ravi K. Chandran. Anjaana Anjaani was scheduled to release on 24 September, then it was postponed to 1 October 2010. This main storyline of this movie was based on the 2001 Telugu movie Itlu Sravani Subramanyam.

Anjaana Anjaani is the story of Kiara (Priyanka Chopra) and Akash (Ranbir Kapoor). Kiara is based in San Francisco, while Akash is a New York City boy. Akash has to clear a loan of $12 million, which he is unable to partly due to the stock market crash. Unable to find any means, suicide seems the only option. He decides to jump off the George Washington Bridge. This is when he meets Kiara, who is also bound to commit suicide because she caught her fiancé Kunal (Zayed Khan) cheating on her. They both try to put an end to their lives but are deterred by the coastguards. Still keen on ending their lives, Akash deliberately gets hit by a car and Kiara falls on the bridge and breaks her neck. This proves to be yet another failed attempt and they end up in the hospital together. Kiara takes Akash to her house as his house was seized by the bank.

Continuing their attempts at suicide, they try to kill themselves five times but in vain. They make a pact to end their lives on 31 December 2009. With 20 days to go, they decide to fulfill their unfinished wishes and thus begin their journey together. Kiara helps Akash find a date and shares with him how Kunal cheated on her. The next day, Akash cleans Kiara's messy apartment. Akash, who can't swim is forced to fulfill Kiara's wish of swimming in the cold Atlantic Ocean. At sea, Kiara falls overboard and Akash rescues her which in turn causes their yacht to drift away from them. As the two slowly succumb to hypothermia, Kiara continues telling her story to Akash. The coast guard that saw them at the bridge earlier, comes to their rescue.

After her discharge from the hospital, Akash, who is now in love with Kiara tries everything to make her happy. The two venture out to Las Vegas on a holiday as Akash never went on a holiday and they end up together in bed. Realization dawns on Akash when Kiara tells him that she still loves Kunal. On Akash's insistence, she moves back with her parents and gives Kunal a second chance, while Akash moves in with his friend and colleague (Vishal Malhotra) and decides to go back to India on the night of 31 December to start afresh.

Akash attends the bank settlement and makes up with his friends, with whom he was at loggerheads. He also reconciles with his father. Meanwhile, Kiara can't stop thinking about Akash. On the 31st, Kiara realises that she has fallen for Akash. Kunal realises this and drops her at the airport. Kiara reaches the bridge but finds herself alone and believes she will never see Akash again. Just then, Akash arrives. Then they go to the sea to die. At sea, Akash throws a beer bottle with a note in it. Kiara reads the paper inside the bottle and Akash proposes to her. Surprised, Kiara accepts the proposal and the couple share a kiss while the coast guard rescues them. As credits roll, it is shown that Akash and Kiara got married two years later and had a baby boy.

A brokenhearted Jay tries to accept the fact that he has lost Simran to Raj. However, Jay's friends and his mother persuade him to not give up on Simran. Jay tries to make Simran jealous but soon realizes that manipulating her feelings will hurt her even more.

Meanwhile, Raj proposes to Simran, and she accepts. But, Simran realizes she doesn't love Raj, and tells him so. She goes to the movie premiere, where she hopes to meet Jay. On the other hand, Jay is leaving, as he has given up all hopes of being with Simran. At the airport, he talks to his mother and she again asks him not to give up. Encouraged, Jay runs back to the premiere. He finds Simran outside the theater and the two express their love for each other and hug, finally getting their happy ending.

A smuggler rises to power in in 1970s Mumbai, a younger gangster seeks to overthrow him, and a police officer is caught in the middle. It stars Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Kangna Ranaut and Randeep Hooda. The film, produced under Balaji Motion Pictures and released on 30 July 2010, received some positive reviews from critics. Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai was declared a "Super-Hit" by Box Office India.

The film's sequel, Once Upon ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara!, featured Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Imran Khan and Sonali Bendre. The filming for the sequel began in August 2012 apparently in Qatar. Film released on 15 August 2013, Independence Day to mostly negative reviews and was a flop at the box office.

The film opens with a suicide attempt by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Agnel Wilson (Randeep Hooda) on the pretext of the Bombay Bombings in 1993. When questioned by his superior, he breaks down and claims that the recent tragic events are his own fault. Wilson recounts that 18 years ago, when he was posted as the ACP in the Mumbai crime branch, his inability to take the necessary action led to the rise of Shoaib Khan (Emraan Hashmi), who played a central role in the bombings. Throughout the film, Wilson narrates the story of 1970s Bombay, when it was ruled by smuggler Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn), and how Mirza's downfall led to Shoaib's rise to power.

After being hit by a flood in his hometown in Madras, a young Mirza arrives in Mumbai, where he lands a job as a coal shoveller. In spite of his meager earnings, the boy never fails to help the poor and needy, which soon gains their respect and admiration. Mirza is given the nickname of "Sultan."

As a grown man, Sultan Mirza becomes the kingpin of Mumbai's smuggling underworld. Through his influence, Mirza peacefully divides the city among four gangsters, thus thwarting police efforts to curb illegal activities. Despite being a criminal, Sultan Mirza is portrayed as a man of principle and a godfather-like figure to the people. He even refrains from smuggling contraband, as it is against his Muslim faith.

Mirza has a crush on Bollywood actress Rehana (Kangna Ranaut) and eventually the two begin dating. Sultan invests black money in her upcoming films. ACP Wilson moves to stop Rehana's films funded by Sultan. Later, Sultan and Rehana frame Wilson to make it look as if Wilson is accepting a bribe, which damages his credibility.

Meanwhile, Shoaib is – even in childhood – a very ambitious person with a dark and daring character. He is frequently involved in petty theft. His father, Hussain Khan (Asif Basra), who is a sub-inspector with the Bombay Police, tries in vain to guide and control his son. Worried, the father turns to Sultan for help. Sultan agrees and helps the young man set up an electronics shop. But Shoaib is unsatisfied, as his only real ambition is to become rich and powerful, like Mirza Sultan.

Shoaib's beautiful girlfriend, Mumtaz (Prachi Desai), works in a local jewellery shop, which Shoaib visits often, to the aggravation of the girl's boss. Shoaib gives her a necklace, which, unbeknownst to Mumtaz, Shoaib had stolen from a lady during a home robbery. Later, that lady comes to the shop with her husband to buy more jewellery. The lady soon recognises her own necklace being worn by Mumtaz; she then admits to the outraged customer that her boyfriend had given the item to her. The lady and her husband demand she take them to her boyfriend's shop, where they confront him. This enrages Shoaib, who beats up the husband and destroys his own shop.

Shoaib goes to Sultan and asks to be a part of his crime ring. Seeing his potential, Sultan agrees to take him under his wing. Shoaib learns the tricks of the trade and soon becomes Sultan's trusted aide. ACP Wilson hatches a plan to use Shoaib's reckless ambition for quick money and power as a way to cause the downfall of Sultan. Wilson even refrains from killing Sultan and Shoaib when he has the opportunity. Wilson's plan backfires, however. Finally, when Shoaib becomes invincible, Wilson blames himself for the subsequent catastrophe.

Sultan decides to hand over his power to Shoaib, and opts to enter politics. He travels to Delhi to meet the Home Minister of India. Shoaib's unscrupulous ambitions lead him to carry out trades and acts which Sultan himself would strongly condemn. Shoaib starts manufacturing illicit liquor, accepts contract killings, invests in drug peddling and runs extortion rackets. When Sultan returns to Bombay, he learns of Shoaib's misdeeds. He finds Shoaib at a party and slaps him in public for his unethical activities. This infuriates Shoaib and he plots revenge. The next day, as Sultan campaigns for his new party, Shoaib appears and assassinates Sultan Mirza whilst addressing the people on the dais, thus ending the saga of a smuggler who was loved by his people.

In his narration, Wilson laments that Shoaib – Mumbai's new underworld kingpin – has since established a global smuggling empire. No government or force could now reach or harm him.

An Indian Muslim man with Asperger's syndrome takes a challenge to speak to the President seriously, and embarks on a cross-country journey. Produced by Hiroo Johar, Gauri Khan and Shahrukh Khan, the film was jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment at a budget of INR38 crore (US$6.4 million). My Name Is Khan's distribution rights were bought by Fox Star Entertainment for a sum of INR100 crore (US$17 million), making it the most expensive Bollywood film of 2010 and also the highest-value buy over for any Indian film, surpassing the previous record of INR90 crore (US$15 million) set by Ghajini.

Before its release, the film generated a great deal of publicity for three main reasons: first, the many political controversies surrounding the film and its lead actor; second, Khan's presence in the film (he was last seen in a leading actor role in December 2008, when Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was released); and third, the reunion of the "golden pair" of Khan and Kajol, who last appeared together in the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001.

Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) is a Muslim child who grew up with his brother Zakir (Jimmy Shergill) and his mother Razia Khan (Zarina Wahab) in a middle-class family in the Borivali section of Mumbai. Rizwan is different from other children, however. He has certain gifts, particularly a special ability to repair mechanical things. His difference leads to special tutoring from a reclusive scholar and extra attention from his mother, both of which lead to heightened jealousy from his brother Zakir, who eventually leaves his family for a life in the United States.

My Name Is Khan debuted in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on 10 February 2010. It premiered globally in cinemas on 12 February 2010. It was also screened as part of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival's official selection the same month.

On its release, the film broke many box office records. My Name Is Khan was the highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas at the time. Within four weeks, the film crossed the INR70 crore (US$12 million) mark in India and became the first film of 2010 to do so and is the highest grossing film released in February. In the overseas markets, the film grossed US$23 million(INR103 crore). My Name Is Khan is currently the 10th highest grossing Bollywood film with a worldwide gross of INR200 crore (US$34 million). Despite this resentment, as an adult Zakir sponsors Rizwan to come and live with him in San Francisco after the death of their mother. It is at this time that Zakir's wife, Haseena (Sonya Jehan) diagnoses Rizwan with Asperger syndrome. Rizwan also begins to work for Zakir where Zakir runs 'Mehnaz Herbal Beauty Products, and in the process he meets a Hindu woman, Mandira (Kajol) and her young son, Sameer or Sam (Yuvaan Makaar), from a previous marriage. Mandira is a hairdresser. Despite Zakir's hostility to the match, Khan and Mandira marry and settle down in the fictional town of Banville. Both Mandira and Sameer take Rizwan's last name as their own. They also live next door to the Garrick family. Sameer is close to their young son, Reese (Kenton Duty and Michael Arnold) while Mark (Dominic Renda) is a reporter and Sarah (Katie A. Keane) is a friend of Mandira.

The Khans' perfect existence gets disrupted, however, after the September 11 attacks. Mark goes to cover the War in Afghanistan and dies there, much to both Sarah and Reese's distress. At the same time, the Khan family begins to experience post 9–11 prejudice in their community, and Reese begins to turn against an older Sam (Arjan Aujla) as well. One afternoon, an argument between them turns into a racially motivated schoolyard fight between Sameer and a gang of older students. Reese, acting on behalf of Sam, tries to stop the fight, but is held back. Sam dies of a ruptured spleen in the hospital. A shattered Mandira blames Rizwan for Sam's death, stating that Sam "died only because his last name was Khan." She then tells Rizwan that she no longer wants to be with him. When he asks her what he has to do to be together with Mandira, she sarcastically tells him that he has to tell the people of the United States and the President that his name is Khan and that he is not a terrorist.

Rizwan takes Mandira's request seriously, and thus sets out on a journey that takes him from one U.S. state to another, to first meet President George W. Bush(Brent Mendenhall) and later the new President-elect. During this quest, he travels to Wilhemina, Georgia, and befriends Mama Jenny and her son Joel. Later, in Los Angeles, he prays in a mosque and overhears violent rhetoric from Faisal Rahman (Arif Zakaria). He reports this to the FBI but there is no response at that moment. Later, while waiting in a crowd to meet President Bush and repeating again and again, "My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist," Rizwan is clubbed down, arrested and placed in a prison by police who misinterpret his statement thinking he said he was a terrorist.

While in the prison he is interrogated as a terrorist suspect and meets the psychiatrist Radha (Sheetal Menon) who believes he is innocent. He is later released after a media campaign by some Indian student reporters Raj (Arjun Mathur) and Komal (Sugandha Garg) and Bobby Ahuja (Parvin Dabas), who prove his innocence by unearthing his attempts to inform the FBI about Faisal Rahman. After his release, he returns to hurricane-hit Wilhemina to help Mama Jenny and her son. His efforts attract media attention, and numerous Muslims come to help as well.

At the same time, a remorseful Reese confesses to Mandira and reveals the identities of the gang who killed Sam. She informs Detective Garcia (Benny Nieves) who has been assisting her on the case, and he arrests the gang. Mandira later gets a call from Sarah to forgive Rizwan, "I've lost my husband; don't lose him."

Mandira realizes her error, she joins Rizwan in Georgia, and their love rekindles. However, at the moment she arrives, Rizwan is stabbed by one of Faisal Rahman's followers (Sumeet Raghavan), who accuses him of being a traitor to Islam, and Rizwan is rushed to the hospital. With Mandira's help, Rizwan survives and meets the new President-elect Barack Obama (Christopher B. Duncan) who tells him, "Your name is Khan and you are not a terrorist." The film concludes with Rizwan and Mandira going back home.

Shocked at the development, Rani shuts herself in her room for a day.

She decides to take control of her life and plans to go alone on her pre-booked honeymoon to visit her favourite place, Paris - which she'd never seen before - and Vijay's favourite place, Amsterdam. After initially hesitating, her parents agree and Rani departs.

In Paris, she meets Vijayalakshmi aka Vijay (Lisa Haydon), who has a French/Spanish mother and an Indian father and works at the hotel where Rani is staying. Overwhelmed by Paris and having gotten into trouble twice - once with the local police and once with a robber - Rani soon makes up her mind to return to India. However, Vijayalakshmi becomes her friend and confidante and shows her around Paris. The two have a series of adventures, during which Rani relives the memories of Vijay patronising her and forbidding her from dancing and drinking - which she's free to do in Paris. Once while shopping, Rani tries out what she considers to be a revealing outfit and accidentally sends a selfie of her in it to Vijay instead of Vijayalakshmi. She quickly realises her mistake, but unbeknownst to her, the selfie prompts Vijay to begin searching for her.

Eventually, the time comes for her to bid an emotional farewell to Vijayalakshmi and board the train for Amsterdam. However, when she arrives in Amsterdam, she finds to her horror that her hostel room is to be shared with three guys, Taka, Tim and Oleksander. Soon, the four become good friends and explore the city, spending their days shopping, sight seeing, visiting a sex shop, and meeting pole dancers in a club. Rani's character gains self-confidence here, as she drives her friends home when they're drunk and earns money in a cook-off by selling gol gappa. She learns more about her friends' backgrounds and begins to understand how different life can be for people in other parts of the world.

As the four head home from the cook-off, they find Vijay waiting for Rani in front of the hostel. He apologises and asks her to reconsider the relationship. The conversation gets physical as he tries to grab Rani, but her friends retaliate, and she tells him to leave.

The two meet up the next day to talk, but Rani leaves abruptly, saying that she would rather speak with him in Delhi. Instead, she meets up with her friends one last time at a rock show she had previously chosen not to attend. After bidding an emotional farewell to her friends at the show's end, Rani returns to Delhi as a changed person.

Upon returning to India, she meets up with Vijay at his house. Without saying anything, she simply hands him her engagement ring and thanks him. Rani leaves his house relieved and relaxed.

Scientist Rohit Mehra lives with his son Krishna "Krrish" Mehra (both played by Hrithik Roshan) in Mumbai. Krishna is married to Priya (Priyanka Chopra) who works as a journalist for Aaj Tak. Rohit works in a research institute for the Indian government and Krishna, while moon lighting as the superhero Krrish, is regularly fired from various day jobs due to lack of attendance. Rohit is researching on a device that will bring life to dead tissues by the use of solar energy. Despite several attempts, he fails to complete the experiment due to the high intensity of sun rays. On a usual day, Krishna loses his job from the security wing of a company when he hears news about an airplane whose front tyres are stuck due to some malfunctioning which creates high risk, even if landed, it may explode and so will the passengers inside. Krishna immediately changes himself to Krrish and saves the plane from accident by holding the component to make tyres free to roam.

A few days later, Rohit hears about a deadly disease spreading in the African country of Namibia due to a virus whose antidote has not yet been discovered. He consults his friend Dr. Varun Shetty (Arif Zakaria) about the situation. Meanwhile, Shetty receives a phone call from Dr. Alok Sen (Asif Basra), a scientist working for Kaal Laboratories who insists on meeting him in order to reveal information about the virus and its antidote. Both Sen and Shetty are, however, murdered by Kaya (Kangna Ranaut), a shapeshifting female mutant. She is the henchwoman of Kaal (Vivek Oberoi), a handicapped evil genius who possesses telekinetic powers. Kaal creates a team of "maanvars" (an hybrid of humans and animals) with distinct physical powers in order to cure himself but fails. Later it is revealed the virus in Africa was spread by Kaal himself to incur huge profits by selling its antidote, the singular source of which is his blood.

Rohit discovers that the virus, which is fast spreading through Mumbai, has no effect on Krishna, the pregnant Priya or himself. He, thus, makes an antidote by using the blood from Krishna's bloodstream which he spreads with the help of explosions. An enraged Kaal sends his mutants to attack Rohit and find out how an antidote was developed without using his own blood. Krrish manages to save Rohit, but Priya is injured and hospitalised. Krrish, however, manages to defeat the mutant Striker (Gowhar Khan). Kaya, carrying out Kaal's instructions, takes Priya's form while Priya is kidnapped by Kaal. In the form of Priya, Kaya leads Krishna to believe that Priya has lost her child, and continues to live with the Mehras. While finding the truth behind the antidote's formula she develops an attraction towards Krishna. Failing to get answers about Frog Man's involvement with the virus attack, Rohit travels to Singapore to seek answers from Dr. Siddhant Arya's (Naseeruddin Shah) partner, where he is kidnapped by Kaal's men. Meanwhile, Krishna discovers the true identity of Priya; furious, he reveals himself as Krrish to Kaya and orders her to take him to Kaal's laboratory. Having fallen in love with Krishna, Kaya decides to help rescue his wife.

At Kaal's laboratory, it is revealed that Kaal is Rohit's son, who was created by an experiment conducted by Dr. Arya while Rohit was held hostage by him. The child was born handicapped, and was thus given away to an orphanage from where he was adopted by a wealthy man (Mohnish Behl). Kaal uses Rohit's bone marrow to successfully cure his handicap. Meanwhile, Kaya saves Priya and unites her with Krrish; she is, however, murdered by Kaal for her disloyalty. Kaal subsequently murders Krrish, and dons a metal suit. Deeply disturbed by his son's death, Rohit decides to re-use his failed experiment to bring dead tissues to life in order to save Krishna. This time, however, he absorbs the excess energy himself. Though the process kills Rohit, it transfers his powers to a revived Krishna. Meanwhile, Kaal threatens to destroy the city of Mumbai if Priya does not surrender to him. Krrish re-emerges and, after several unsuccessful attempts, manages to kill him using Rohit's solar experiment. The film ends six months later with Priya naming their new-born son Rohit, who also exhibits superpowers.

Naina Catherine Kapur (Preity Zinta) is a bespectacled 23-year-old Punjabi MBA student who is quite pessimistic and cynical towards her life and relationships. The movie opens up to Naina visiting Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York City. She relates how whenever she misses her father, she comes to the park. Upon returning home, we see Jenny (Jaya Bachchan), Naina's widowed mother who is on the phone discussing a loan extension for their centrally situated restaurant which isn't doing so well. Upon Naina's father's passing, all the house's responsibilities have fallen on her. Naina begins looking through the mail to find another private and confidential letter addressed to her mother, among many others she periodically receives. She also finds a letter from a Punjabi matrimonial service, Kunwari Kudi (meaning: Single Girl) that her grandmother and her aunts have enlisted in hopes of marrying off Naina to a Sikh sardar man. Naina's grandmother Lajjo (Sushma Seth), and Naina's aunts Kammo (Shoma Anand) and Vimmo are religious aspiring musicians who often perform for their neighbor, Chadda (Dara Singh) and to the horror and inconvenience of many of their other neighbors. There are also Naina's younger siblings in the home, including Shiv, Naina's disabled biological brother and Gia (Jhanak Shukla), Naina's adoptive sister. There is much tension in the Kapur household as Lajjo is resentful towards Gia and Jenny as she believes Jenny's decision to adopt Gia is what led to her husband's suicide, thus causing her to be affectionate with Naina and Shiv, while being cold to Gia. There is also much religious tension in the house as Jenny practices Christianity while Lajjo practices Sikhism.

Naina's best friend, Jaspreet Kapoor, nicknamed Sweetu (Delnaaz Paul) is an overweight bubbly hopeless romantic who often voices the details to her love life to Naina, who often offers blunt and cynical advice to her. Sweetu lives next door to Naina, thus often causing a confusion to mailmen who confuse their surnames. Sweetu also has an older sister Jaswinder, nicknamed Jazz (Lilette Dubey) who is quite a flirtatious woman going through insecurities of old age and a midlife crisis. Jazz is business partners with Jenny in their restaurant venture, so the two households are quite close to one another. Naina's other best friend, Rohit Patel (Saif Ali Khan) is then introduced. Rohit is a 27-year-old Gujurati living in Manhattan. His family is quite wealthy, as his parents, Karsanbhai (Satish Shah) and Sarlaben (Ketaki Dave) who live in Connecticut are owners of a popular food chain Dial-A-Dhokla. Rohit is currently working in advertising and also attends MBA classes with Naina. He is also quite the hopeless romantic as during an MBA class, he spots a woman, Geeta Parekh (Anaita Shroff Adajania) who is a new entry student as well as a divorcee. As she approaches near Rohit's aisle, Rohit asks her to sit behind him in class. However, before she can sit, an elderly woman reaches the seat before her, unknown to Rohit. As class starts, he writes "Dinner at 8" on a slip of paper and passes it to her thinking she is Geeta. The woman accepts and Rohit turns to find her instead of Geeta in shock. Naina narrates this as showing how at first, she did not like Rohit at all. But she began to like him as he is truly a good man, as he did not cancel his date that night. She begins to explain how having Rohit around helps her forget all her troubles at home.

Meanwhile, Aman Mathur (Shah Rukh Khan) and his mother shift to Naina's neighbourhood to live with his uncle, Chadda. Noticing the sadness of his new neighbors, and the beauty of Naina he intervenes and tries to know Naina better. His well-meaning interference in their activities, his help in reviving their financial standing, and his general [optimism] soon change their lives for the better. Meanwhile, Aman is seen speaking with a woman, Priya (Sonali Bendre) discussing important things although it is not known what this might be. Naina is initially reluctant to enjoy Aman's presence, as he has helped her family so much, taught her how to accept happiness, and even given her the confidence to dress brightly and even lose her glasses. She grows to like him and eventually falls in love with him. Also, Rohit, has begun to notice Naina's new outlook and optimism on life, and he too begins to fall in love with her. Afraid to admit his feelings he seeks Aman's advice while Naina also seeks Sweetu's. As Sweetu is encouraging her, Naina decides to call Rohit instead to tell him of her feelings towards Aman. Thinking that she might admit her feelings towards him, Rohit agrees to meet with Naina to tell her he loves her. Upon reaching, Naina reveals that she is in love with Aman. Heartbroken, Rohit tells Naina to be honest about her feelings towards Aman and later informs Aman about this. Naina goes to Aman's house in hopes of telling him about her feelings towards him where she sees a picture of a woman in a bridal costume hugging Aman. Asking about the woman, Aman explains that he is married to the woman, Priya who we had seen earlier. He explained how they had had a disagreement back home in India and she had fled to New York where her parents are. Aman explains that he and his mother have come here to fix their problems and bring her back home. Naina, being heartbroken leaves his home on the verge of tears, only to break down outside and run to Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Inside, Aman's mother asks what has happened. It is revealed that Priya is not Aman's wife, but in fact a close friend, who is a physician practicing in the States. He is suffering from a fatal cardiac disease in which he needs a transplant in order to survive, however, the chances of finding a transplant and surviving are quite low and he has come to accept this. He tells his mother that he does love Naina deeply and has lied to save Naina from a life of loneliness once he passes and how he intends to help her find love with Rohit, who genuinely loves her and will be able to take care of her. Upon learning what Aman had told Naina, Rohit realizes that Naina will never be able to forget Aman and he decides to move on by temporarily dating another woman, Camilla (Simone Singh) who is only out to marry Rohit for his money.

Aman convinces Rohit to leave Camilla and work on a strategy that will make Naina fall for Rohit in six days. This eventually works by the end of the sixth day, but after overhearing a conversation between Aman and Rohit, Naina finds out that Rohit sought Aman's help to attain her love. She leaves his house in anger, where Aman and Rohit chase her to a train station. Rohit confesses his love for her, but Naina believes that he does not truly love her, and this is only a ploy on Aman's part to help her move on from him. But Aman, desperate to make Naina realize how much Rohit loves her, pulls out Rohit's diary from his pocket and reads a fraction of it. Finding a blank page, he decides to confess his own feelings for Naina, pretending they were Rohit's words. Also, Jenny later convinces Naina of Rohit's love towards her. Naina, realizing her misconceptions decides to meet Rohit, leaving her entire family and friends including Aman to wait at home to hear what will happen. Rohit proposes to her in an elaborate and beautiful way to show his love for her. Naina, realizing how much Rohit loves her, accepts the proposal and there is a huge celebration at the Kapur household when Rohit later calls Aman to tell him what had happened. Aman sheds a few tears in the comfort of his mother but still assists everyone in the preparations for the wedding. The tension within Naina's family also stops when Aman, after accidentally intercepting a personal letter addressed to Jenny, reveals to Lajjo that Gia is Naina's half-sister through their father's extramarital affair. Jennifer's acceptance of her husband's infidelity is what led to his suicide. Lajjo now accepts Gia, and the now-united family begin the preparations for Rohit and Naina's wedding. After attending the engagement ceremony, Aman's health deteriorates and he has a stint at the hospital. Naina, in a chance-encounter meets Priya and learns the truth about Aman's health condition. Shocked and heartbroken, Naina leaves in shock. Priya calls Aman to inform him of what has just happened and Aman escapes the hospital, in an already weak condition to find both Rohit and Naina. He visits Rohit and asks him to fulfill his dying wish of marrying Naina. He then visits Brooklyn Bridge Park to find Naina there in tears. When she approaches and accuses Aman of lying, he tells her he does not love her although the tears in his eyes and their embrace says otherwise. Rohit and Naina get married. After their marriage, Aman hugs them both and then breaks down in tears.

Some days later, he wakes up in hospital. Aman's loved ones visit him. Naina is unable to be near him out of grief and leaves the room in tears. He then makes Rohit promise that "In the next births, and every birth to follow, Naina will be his." Aman dies in the hospital with Rohit by his side and Naina looking through the window.

Twenty years later, an older Naina relates the story to a grown-up Gia, telling her how she will never be able to forget Aman, her first love, for he had taught her to love life, herself, and Rohit. It is revealed that Naina and Rohit have a daughter, Rhea of their own and are living happily. Nearing the end of the movie, Rohit tells Naina he loves her and they walk towards their house following Gia and Rhea in each other's arms. Naina ends her story by narrating that while every wife dreams of finding a friend in her husband, she was lucky to find a husband in her friend.
